  • Day 1: Setting SMART Goals

Blogging challenges. Like any other “challenge” you sign on to, they’re designed to, well, challenge you to achieve, do new things, push yourself in something. As you’ve probably noticed, social media is full of challenges to quit a bad habit or start a side hustle or get a firmer booty, especially this time of year. They’re all thrown out there in the hopes that we’ll find some growth, create good habits, or just have fun with a new group of folks. In my case, this blogging challenge thing forces me to sit down and think about this project every day, to actually create something of value for 31 days solid.…

    2018: Glad that’s over…

Ready to make your New Year’s Resolutions? Will 2019 be your year finally? ‘Cause let’s face it – 2018 doesn’t seem to have done many of us any favors. If you believe the memes, everyone else thinks so, too. The picture quality sucks, but I’m a big fan of this one: On the flip side, I see tons of people sharing their happies on social media, and that makes me both smile and roll my eyes simultaneously. I do love a good paradox. Delightful. Good for you folks. So, yeah. 2018. Dunno about you, but it kicked me in the ribs. Not that 2016 and 2017 were all that kind,…

  • Merry Christmas and Be Good to Each Other

Merry Christmas, even though it’s something I don’t even really celebrate. My bah-humbug attitude from this morning has been completely displaced by my appreciation for the strength and beauty of humanity. The Orphan Christmas Firstly, thank you Bardog for being open today, for all the employees who gave up time with their families to feed a bunch of us flying solo or those looking to escape tonight. Don’t know that you’ll ever know how thankful we all really are. I got the special tonight. Blackened chicken Alfredo on penne with sautéed mushrooms, and in true Bardog fashion, it was delicious. I couldn’t eat it all and had my leftovers boxed…

  • Back on the wagon…

So, real talk. I had big plans, and then fell off the bloggin’ wagon. I took walking-around pics for weeks thinking I’d make time to share. It’d be therapy, I told myself. But then my life got pretty awesome last fall and I was just all blissed out and distracted and didn’t “need” the therapy, and then, as it does, life just kinda went sideways last winter, and that turned into actual therapy. Honestly, it’s still pretty sideways, if not completely in a ditch upside on its crumbled roof. I don’t really know what to think most days. Even the good days leave me confused. Really does make my head…

  • It’s a process…

Moving. It’s a process. There’s nothing fun about it, unless you’re moving into my stupid awesome downtown flat! Got a one bedroom that I simply adore, and I’m really pleased with my leasing company (Henry Turley) and all the people I’ve met along the way who’ve been part of the process. But moving never comes without a little bit of trauma. So… I have this closet, and despite being a jeans-and-tee-shirt kinda gal, I have A LOT of clothes. (Swear I purged!)  I totally needed more closet space, so I got permission to hang an additional shelf. Hooray! …or so I thought. My first obstacle was power. People don’t just randomly…
